Gallatin Steel
 Gallatin
Steel Company is a joint venture between Dofasco, Inc. and Gerdau
Ameristeel. Gallatin Steel’s steel manufacturing facility is located
along the banks of the Ohio River in Gallatin County, Kentucky, USA.
Construction of our Compact Strip
Production facility began in 1993. We began our start-up operations as
one of the most advanced, environmentally-safe minimills in the world in
the second quarter of 1995. Since then, we have achieved the ISO 9001,
ISO 17025, and the ISO/TS 16949 (the highest international quality
benchmark for manufacturers) certifications.

The competition
this year was intense and Gallatin
should be very proud of being selected.
There were several programs that were very close however the high level
visibility and support all the way to
the Presidents level, the all
time records for tons produced (high level business metric), the
effective trust based
partnerships with contractors
and suppliers, and the use of advanced analytic information software
and off site benchmarking visits propelled this
steel mill to the winners circle.
